PCR Testing for sexually transmitted infections (STI)
In our urological practice we offer you the opportunity to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STD/STI). The testing takes place directly in our practice with the Bosch Vivalytic system. This innovative technology makes it possible to carry out a multiplex PCR analysis in a short time, with which multiple STD pathogens can be detected at the same time.
You no longer have to wait up to a week for your results as was previously the case, but you will find out after a few hours whether there is an infection and how it can be specifically treated. This quickly brings certainty and may save you from otherwise unnecessary antibiotic therapy and its side effects.

The advantages of multiplex PCR analysis lie in its high sensitivity and specificity. This means that the test can detect even the smallest amounts of pathogens and that the probability of false positive or false negative results is very low.
Which pathogens are tested for?
The innovative PCR system can directly identify a total of ten pathogens and thus offers the largest spectrum of current multiplex analyses. These include two viruses, seven bacteria and one parasite. The following pathogens are detected with the Vivalytic STI test:

How does the testing work?
Testing is carried out simply using a urine sample (first morning urine) or a swab from the genital area. The sample is then analyzed directly in our on-site laboratory.

Where can I get tested?
The testing takes place in the private urological practice, Bleichenbrücke 10 in Hamburg. Please arrange one by phone or online.

When will I get my test result?
Depending on the scope of the test, the analysis time is between 1 and 2.5 hours. As soon as the result is available, we will provide it to you digitally. If therapy is necessary, we will initiate it for you.

Our tip:
We recommend getting tested regularly for STDs, especially if you have changing sexual partners. This is how you can protect yourself and your partners from sexually transmitted diseases.

Can I also be tested for other sexually transmitted diseases?
Of course, other diseases (e.g. hepatitis, HIV,syphilis) are examined by blood sampling. We will advise you individually on this.

How much do the examinations cost?
Private health insurance companies usually cover the costs in full. The test for those insured by statutory health insurance companies is a self-pay service and is billed according to the fee schedule for doctors (GOÄ). The costs of the PCR analysis are between approx. 150 and 300 euros, depending on the extent of the testing. Depending on the extent of further examinations, costs will be added. We will be happy to advise you transparently about all costs incurred.
